Analog vs digital, how to choose?
Choosing a video system is one of the most important decisions when building an FPV drone. Both approaches have their advantages.
Analog system
Analog VTX are cheap, light and low latency. The image is not HD, but for racing and freestyle the trade-off is acceptable. They work with Analog Video Kits.
- Pros: low price, minimal latency, a huge choice of compatible hardware
- Cons: lower image resolution, sensitivity to interference
Digital system
Digital systems such as DJI O4, Walksnail Avatar or HDZero transmit HD or Full HD video with low latency, ideal for Cinewhoop and freestyle videographers. See HD Video Kits.
- Pros: HD image, stable transmission, recording capability
- Cons: higher price, more weight, requires compatible goggles
