FPV monitors, who needs them and when?
An FPV monitor is a screen that receives and displays the video signal from your drone without you having to put on goggles. It has several important uses:
- Spotter: the pilot's assistant watches the drone and its surroundings on the monitor and keeps an eye on the airspace
- Instructors: see the same picture as the student in the goggles; they can step in when danger arises
- Beginners: a monitor as an entry point into FPV without investing in goggles
- Testing and setup: a quick video check before the flight
What to focus on when choosing?
- Brightness (cd/m²): at least 1000 nits for use in direct sunlight
- Inputs: AV in for analog, HDMI for digital systems
- Battery: an integrated battery for field use without external power
