Optical transceivers are the active units of a fiber transmission system: they convert video and data into a light signal and back. The Pilotix SE range covers distances of 20 to 60 km, the digital version up to 80 km, and standalone PCB boards are available for building into a ground station.

How to fit a transceiver into your setup
A complete link consists of the air unit on the drone, a spool of optical fiber that the drone unwinds in flight, and a ground receiver. Choose the transceiver by planned distance and video format (analog vs. digital).
Why fiber instead of radio
A fiber link cannot be jammed or located and works reliably behind obstacles and in environments full of RF noise. This is specialised equipment for industry and research; we are happy to advise on designing your setup.
