What a thermal camera on a drone is for
Typical uses include searching for people and wildlife (such as fawns before mowing), inspections of solar plants and power lines, site monitoring and night operations. The thermal image works day and night and is not fooled by vegetation.
How to choose
- Sensor resolution: 256×192 for basic detection, 384×288 as an all-rounder, 640×512 for detailed work at longer distances
- Focal length: shorter (4 mm) for a wide view, longer (9 mm) for surveillance at a distance
- Output: CVBS for analog FPV transmission, USB for recording and integration
