The FPV frame is the backbone of the whole drone; it defines geometry, weight, durability and flying style. Choosing the right frame is the first step of every build. FPV frames, how to choose?
Frame size
- 2 to 3 inch: Tinywhoop and Cinewhoop, indoor flying, safe around people
- 4 inch: long range and cruising drones, a balance of power and efficiency
- 5 inch: the standard for freestyle and racing
- 6 to 7 inch: heavy lift and long range, high capacity batteries
Frame geometry
- True-X: symmetrical geometry with neutral handling, suitable for beginners
- Stretched-X: an extended wheelbase for better stability and motor airflow
- Dead-cat: front motors shifted back to keep the props out of the camera's view
Material
All quality FPV frames are made of carbon fiber. A thickness of 3 mm is the standard for freestyle, 4 mm for heavier applications. See the full range of FPV frames and motors.
