How to choose an FPV motor
- Stator size: the first two digits give the diameter, the second two the height (2207 = 22×7 mm); a bigger stator means more power for a heavier drone
- KV rating: revolutions per volt; high KV for lower voltages and aggressive flying, low KV for 6S batteries, big props and efficiency
- Voltage: motors for 1S whoops up to 12S industrial builds
Rough recommendations
For 5 inch freestyle go for a 2306 or 2207 with 1700 to 2500 KV depending on your battery, for a cinewhoop a 1404 to 1507, for long range a 2806 or bigger with lower KV. Always tune the motor together with your propellers and ESC as one system. You will find motors for fixed wings in fixed wing motors.
